The Texas Coalition for Affordable Insurance Solutions – representing the major homeowners insurance companies doing business in Texas – applauded Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Saturday for signing into law House Bill 1774, which will curb abusive hailstorm insurance claim lawsuits.
The following statement can be attributed to TCAIS Executive Director Beaman Floyd:
“This law means that a hailstorm no longer signals an easy payday for unscrupulous trial lawyers, roofers, adjusters and others who in recent years have abused the insurance claims process and the legal system in order to fatten their bank accounts at the expense of all Texas insurance consumers. The Texas Coalition of Affordable Insurance Solutions and the major homeowner insurers we represent applaud the Texas Legislature and Gov. Greg Abbott for signing into law this common-sense reform that protects and benefits Texans by helping keep homeowners insurance available and affordable across the state while preserving consumer protections.”
