Credit Scoring
TCAIS supports consumer protections regarding credit-based
insurance scoring while allowing the use of this valuable tool
to the benefit of consumers. Many of these consumer protections
were manadated as part of Senate Bill 14, pased during the 78th Legislative Session.

- Texas Consumer Benefit from Credit Scoring
• Credit-based insurance scoring lowers rates for most consumers
and makes pricing more fair and accurate.
• People with a good credit-based insurance score are likely
to receive lower rates
• When insurance scoring is not allowed, people with good credit-based
insurance scores may actually have to pay higher rates to make up for individuals
with poor scores.
